We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Environmental Waste Management Technician to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on environmental sustainability while working in a dynamic, fast-paced industry.
  • As an Environmental Technician, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safe collection, disposal, and recycling of waste materials in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and facility policy. You will also assist in the management and maintenance of waste processing equipment, carry out inspections, and provide support for ongoing environmental sustainability initiatives. This includes the management of stormwater infrastructure assets.

Key Responsibilities - Environmental Technician

  • Collect, sort, label, manage and schedule pickups of waste streams at various sites.
  • Ensure all waste management processes comply with environmental regulations, company policy and safety protocols.
  • Operate and maintain waste management equipment, such as compactors, balers, fork trucks, and general housekeeping equipment.
  • Conduct site inspections and waste assessments to identify and address potential environmental gaps and opportunities.
  • Monitor waste disposal and recycling practices to optimize resource recovery.
  • Maintain accurate records of waste collection, disposal, and recycling activities.
  • Assist with waste management audits and reporting for environmental compliance.
  • Respond to emergency spill events, containing and cleaning up of waste materials as needed.
  • Conduct inspections and audits of stormwater systems.
  • Report non-compliance issues to management and key stake holders.
  • Assist in maintenance of stormwater best management practices (BMPs).
  • Ensure that facility operations adhere to erosion and sediment control requirements.
  • Provide excellent customer service and collaborate with other team members to meet sustainability goals.

Required Skills and Knowledge- Environmental Technician

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate waste management equipment and machinery.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivated and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in varying outdoor weather conditions.

Education and Experience - Environmental Technician

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; additional certification in waste management, RCRA & DOT preferred – training also provided upon hire.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Previous experience in waste management, environmental services, or a related field.
  • Previous fork truck training preferred.

Benefits and Pay - Environmental Technician

  • $19/hr-$23/hr
