Interim Director of Pharmacy (DOP / PIC)

We are seeking an experienced Interim Director of Pharmacy (DOP/PIC) to provide leadership coverage for two acute care hospitals in Southern California. This is a 13-week interim assignment with the possibility of extension, covering an outgoing Director of Pharmacy. The role requires strong pharmacy leadership, operational oversight, and staff management across both facilities.

The Interim DOP will split time between Coast Plaza Memorial Hospital and Memorial Hospital of Gardena, following an established weekly schedule.

Key Responsibilities - Interim Director of Pharmacy (DOP / PIC)

What You'll Do

  • Provide pharmacy leadership and oversight for both hospital sites.

  • Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC).

  • Attend and lead meetings including Medication Safety and Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T).

  • Participate in leadership huddles.

  • Manage pharmacy staff and oversee timekeeping (all staff are CPS employees).

  • Oversee sterile compounding competency processes.

  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain effective communication with hospital leadership and interdisciplinary teams.

Required Skills and Knowledge- Interim Director of Pharmacy (DOP / PIC)

What You Bring

  • Minimum 5+ years of hospital pharmacy management experience.

  • Active California Pharmacist license (required).

  • Previous Director of Pharmacy or interim leadership experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Paragon order entry system.

  • Familiarity with Pyxis automation systems.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Experience overseeing sterile compounding operations and competencies.

Compensation & Benefits

  • 40 hours per week, regular 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM schedule.

  • No weekend coverage required.

  • No on-call responsibilities..

  • Competitive interim compensation.
