A well-established inpatient behavioral health hospital in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a PRN Staff Pharmacist to join its pharmacy team. This facility supports over 140 patients daily and plays an important role in providing specialized mental health care to the community.

This position is ideal for pharmacists with inpatient hospital experience who are looking for flexible coverage opportunities while working in a collaborative clinical environment. The pharmacist will work closely with physicians, nurses, and pharmacy staff to ensure safe and effective medication management for patients receiving behavioral health services.

Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure a smooth transition into the facility’s pharmacy systems and workflow.

Key Responsibilities - Part-Time Pharmacist

What You’ll Be Doing

• Review and verify medication orders to ensure safety and accuracy
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff regarding medication therapy
• Perform product verification and medication review
• Utilize automated dispensing cabinets for medication distribution
• Support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives
• Partner with the Director of Pharmacy and pharmacy team to optimize patient care
• Maintain compliance with pharmacy regulations and hospital policies

Pharmacy technicians assist with medication preparation, repackaging, filling, and distribution, allowing pharmacists to focus on clinical oversight and verification.

Schedule & Coverage Dates

Training (5 days total):

• Training will begin in early May
• 5 training days scheduled between May 5–8 and May 11–15
• Training hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Scheduled Coverage:

• May 16–17: 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
• May 30–31: 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
• Additional coverage in June and beyond – TBD

Required Skills and Knowledge- Part-Time Pharmacist

What We’re Looking For

• Active North Carolina Pharmacist License
• Previous inpatient hospital pharmacy experience
• Experience with automated dispensing systems such as Omnicell or Pyxis
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication safety
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in behavioral health or psychiatric pharmacy

Pharmacy Systems:

• Order Entry System: HCS (training provided)
• Automation: Omnicell (Pyxis experience acceptable)
