InnoSource is seeking applicants to work as a Lead Environmental Technician at one of our Fortune 500 clients in Fayetteville, NC. This is an exciting opportunity to further your career in the automotive and manufacturing industries.

As a Lead Environmental Technician, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safe collection, disposal, and recycling of waste materials in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and facility policy. You will also assist in the management and maintenance of waste processing equipment, carry out inspections, and provide support for ongoing environmental sustainability initiatives. This includes the management of stormwater infrastructure assets.

Key Responsibilities - Lead Environmental Technician

  • Oversee Environmental Technician Associate(s)
  • Collect, sort, label, manage and schedule pickups of waste streams at various sites.
  • Ensure all waste management processes comply with environmental regulations, company policy and safety protocols.
  • Operate and maintain waste management equipment, such as compactors, balers, fork trucks, and general housekeeping equipment.
  • Conduct site inspections and waste assessments to identify and address potential environmental gaps and opportunities.
  • Monitor waste disposal and recycling practices to optimize resource recovery.
  • Maintain accurate records of waste collection, disposal, and recycling activities.
  • Assist with waste management audits and reporting for environmental compliance.
  • Respond to emergency spill events, containing and cleaning up of waste materials as needed.

Required Skills and Knowledge- Lead Environmental Technician

Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds.
    • Must be able to work in outdoor environments around wildlife, and in inclement weather.
    • Ability to stand, bend, stoop and kneel for extended periods.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate waste management equipment and machinery.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivated and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in varying outdoor weather conditions.
  • Previous fork truck training preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Education and Experience - Lead Environmental Technician

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in waste management, RCRA & DOT preferred – training also provided upon hire.
  • Previous experience in waste management, environmental services, or a related field.
