Financial Services Analyst – Group Benefits Underwriting

The Financial Services Analyst is part of the Group Benefits Underwriting team and is responsible for the data entry and evaluation of new employer groups and new enrollees to the Self-Funded product. This role combines detail-oriented data work with analytical evaluation, and calls for someone who can stay focused and organized in a fast-paced environment while working closely with sales offices, underwriters, and internal partners.

Key Responsibilities - Financial Services Analyst – Group Benefits Underwriting

  • Enter new group enrollment data into the online system and appropriate worksheets.
  • Evaluate group enrollment materials for completeness.
  • Analyze new business quotes and proposals for accuracy.
  • Analyze broker appointments.
  • Evaluate eligibility and enrollment requirements of new enrollees to employer group plans.
  • Evaluate employer changes.
  • Work collaboratively with sales offices and underwriters to meet company objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal partners to improve agent satisfaction.
  • Accept new functions and duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Knowledge- Financial Services Analyst – Group Benefits Underwriting

Qualifications

  • Prior Underwriting Technician experience.
  • Knowledge of the health insurance market.
  • Strong ability to work independently and to adjust schedule to meet service standards.
  • Proven ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with sales staff and department staff.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Access.
  • Proficient use of computer systems.
  • Professional phone etiquette and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience - Financial Services Analyst – Group Benefits Underwriting

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required 
  • Bachelors Degree Preferred
