Administrative Assistant – Life Underwriting Case Admin

The Administrative Assistant is a key member of the Group Benefits Underwriting team, responsible for managing the underwriting mailbox—monitoring incoming messages, distributing work, and retrieving all enrollment forms and related documentation. The role also involves converting enrollment emails and attachments into PDFs for processing and performing all indexing activities required to support the Underwriting team. Success in this position calls for someone organized, self-directed, and able to stay focused while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities - Administrative Assistant – Life Underwriting Case Admin

  • Monitor the underwriting mailbox and ensure incoming enrollment forms are converted and sent to an indexing queue.
  • Distribute emails from the underwriting mailbox to the appropriate team members and departments.
  • Convert enrollment form emails and attachments into a single PDF and upload to the indexing queue.
  • Monitor the indexing queue and index all documents according to written procedures.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal partners to improve department performance.

Qualifications

  • Strong ability to work independently and to adjust schedule to meet service standards.
  • Proven ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to multi-task.
  • Proficient use of computer systems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Previous experience in the insurance industry.

Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
